Stamp Duty payable is dependant on the period of the lease term:
For Lease term not exceeding 1 year - $1 for every $250 or part thereof of annual rent
For Lease term exceeding 1 year but not exceeding 3 years - $2 for every $250 or part thereof of annual rent
for Lease term exceeding 3 years - $4 for every $250 or part thereof of annual rent
Example:
Monthly rent = $2000, Lease term = 2 years
Annual rent = $2000 x 12 months = $24,000
Stamp Duty = ($24,000/$250) x $2 = 96 x $2 = $192
